Bilingual Primary School Retaining Wall
Playsafe Playgrounds were asked to construct a retaining wall in the corner of the children’s playground as per the following plans below:
Retaining Wall Installation:
The foundation holes were mechanically excavated to dimensions as per the plans. Hand excavations were undertaken as required for trimming the foundations. All materials for the construction process were transferred to working area by forklift so that manual handling was kept to a minimum during this process. All foundation points were then concrete filled to the necessary levels. A drainage pipe was laid behind wall and connected to the existing drainage system.
Base works for surfacing:
Concrete path edges were laid to perimeter of surfacing area bedded and haunched into position. 100mm of MOT type 1 stone was compacted with plate to levels to receive tarmacadam surfacing.
Tarmac surfacing:
A binder base course of tarmac (14mm Nominal) was hot rolled to levels to a depth of 50mm. This was then covered by a wearing course of tarmac (6mm nominal) hot rolled to levels at a depth of 20mm.
